Formerly Omega Mortgage, Sage Bank Changes Name, Continues Same Great Mortgage Services

KEENE, N.H. - Formerly known as Omega Mortgage (a division of LowellBank), the newly anointed Sage Bank - located at 372 West Street in Keene - will continue its well-rounded services for first time home buyers and existing home owners who are looking for mortgage planning, refinancing options, home equity or a VA loan.

Originally incorporated in 1885 as “Lowell Co-operative Bank” in Massachusetts, LowellBank over the years has grown to a much wider geographical presence, now with 22 lending locations spanning across New England. In 2010, LowellBank also acquired the assets of Omega Mortgage Corporation.

In May, LowellBank made the decision to choose a new name for the corporation, one without any geographical limitations that would better suit the bank’s expanding coverage area. “In order to better unify our residential lending and consumer and business banking, we chose a name without any geographical association,” Richard Bolton stated in a recent Sage Bank press release. Bolton is the Chairman, President and CEO of Sage Bank.

“We are excited about the change and believe our new name reflects our position as partners and advisors to our customers, as well as differentiating us from other banks. This will also better position us for future growth."

With over 125 years of banking experience, Sage Bank serves New England with this goal in mind – offering their clients a wide variety of mortgage programs, a higher level of customer service and a bevy of special features such as competitive, low down payment plans, fixed and adjustable rates, flexible credit reviews and no pre-payment penalties.

“Lowell Bank/Omega Mortgage officially became Sage Bank in June,” Sage Recruiting Manager Steve Salerno, Jr. said in a recent interview. “However, it is important to know that the company was not sold, nor did it merge with another entity. The same knowledgeable bankers and mortgage professionals are working with homeowners and buyers throughout New England.

“The decision to change the name to Sage Bank is part of a long-term growth strategy that we expect, will allow us to serve our valued customers even better in the future. We have consciously chosen a name without geographical association in order to reflect our growth and to unify our residential lending and retail banking divisions. We continue to offer the same products and services, including mortgage planning, home refinances, home equity lines of credit and VA loans.”

Shelley Woodward, senior loan officer at Sage’s West Street branch in Keene, has also been offering mortgage programs throughout the Monadnock area and beyond since 2000 and originally joined forces with Sage Bank/Omega Mortgage in 2012.

“We offer a variety of mortgage programs including conventional, FHA, VA, USDA and HARP,” Woodward said in a recent interview. I take great pride in meeting the personal needs and expectations of all existing and potential borrowers. I not only work hard for our current clients, but also empower first time buyers to feel confident – to educate and point them in the right direction.”

Shelley’s knowledge, experience and vast network of resources as a loan officer shines through, as the Keene branch office continues to develop a strong reputation for offering the same variety of mortgage options than that of a larger national lender, while still providing the personal attention that a local lender can provide.

One local business owner was recently quoted as saying: “Shelley is one of the most knowledgeable and personable loan officers in the business. With 30 years of experience behind me, I can recommend Shelley with complete confidence in her work. She is fair-minded, creative, and trustworthy. If you need a loan, she is an excellent source.”
