Whether it be through traditional direct mail, email campaigns or Google ads to drive potential clients to a Web site, it is not an easy task to create a sales presentation that will make customers respond. "Today, everyone seems to be a direct marketer," Josh Manheimer said in a recent interview. Manheimer is the president of JC Manheimerin in Norwich.

"But someone needs to write persuasive copy and come up with the appropriate imagery that will motivate your audience to take action, and that is what I do. I create stuff that gets people to respond." Indeed, Manheimer has created many successful direct mail packages and has been included in two books about marketing - "Million Dollar Mailings" and "The World's Greatest Direct Mail Sales Letters."

There are a few important facets in creating a successful direct mail campaign. One aspect is the list of potential customers you contact, for you need to reach out to the right people in order to get a positive response. Of course, the offer being presented must be attractive, and the way you present it must be creative.

"Mail to the wrong people and the response won't be good," Manheimer added. "Give the right people a great offer, but present it in an uninspiring way? That won't work either. But using great, smart creative can boost response dramatically."

Based in Bennington, Global-Z International is another local marketing company which provides international marketers with data quality services. "While these services are well rooted in the direct mail industry, which continues today, our services have broadened in breadth and depth to include services such as email and phone validation, as well as geocoding/geolocation services," Marty Shaw said in a recent interview. Shaw works in sales and marketing at Golbal-Z International.

Global-Z's international data quality services are the benchmark in international postal address hygiene, address verification, address standardization, address correction, database management, merge/purge(de-duplication) - all providing Global-Z clients a more cost effective and efficient way to mail internationally.

"Our proprietary software technology really makes us unique. Global-Z created and continues to develop and perfect reliable data quality solutions to meet demands of the global marketplace. Our clients range in size from Fortune 500 to small businesses."

One other local mail marketing company, Mailrite, Inc. based in Putney, offers its clients everything from planning, copy writing, testing and analysis, to designing, printing and mailing services. "We specialize in saving our customers money and time by advising them on how to design mail pieces that get noticed, opened and read," Mailrite, Inc. owner Gary Hendricksen said in a recent interview. "And to do so at the best possible postage rate without falling afoul of the increasingly complex bulk-mailing rules of the post office.

"We also help customers clean their address data; choose mailing lists that are the most appropriate for their marketing goals and personalize their mail pieces to improve response rates. In particular, we assist non-profits throughout New England, with a goal to craft an informative and compelling letter that helps the potential donors feel the satisfaction of making a gift that makes a difference."

Regardless of the size of a company or what they may be looking for in bulk mailing needs, choosing a service that can meet and exceed those needs is an increasingly complex decision. A mail marketing company's linguistics, cultural expertise, understanding of technology, client focus and simply doing your homework, all play an important role in making the right choice for your mail marketing needs.
