Two Shelburne Businesses Merge: Ink. Ink. and Arabesque

SHELBURNE, VT.-Two Shelburne Village businesses recently joined forces when Ink. Ink. Fine Stationary, Shelburne’s renowned home of wedding invitations and everything paper, recently moved just down the street to combine their talents with Arabesque, which offers distinctive gifts and unique home décor.

Yes, these two mainstays are now at the same location, providing bridal clients one customized location for all their gift and paper needs. The owner of Arabesque, Tracy Stolese, recently purchased Ink. Ink. from its founder Karla Toensing, with the two businesses combining their talents at the Arabesque location at 5597 Shelburne Road, between Harrington’s and Café Shelburne.

"The idea to merge with Ink. Ink. came about after Karla approached me with the fact that she was looking to sell and wondered if I might be interested," Tracy Stolese said in a recent interview. "Although I didn't have any plans to leave our location, I was indeed curious about her plans for the business. The conversation developed from there and we officially purchased the business early this year."

For a decade, Arabesque has been furnishing bridal parties, guests and discerning shoppers with luxurious gifts, home décor and wedding registry requests, while Ink. Ink. has been offering an extensive selection of fine wedding invitations, birth announcements, party invitations, personal stationery, business correspondence and do-it-yourself paper components for six years.

"The two businesses just seemed like a natural fit… cards and gifts go hand-in-hand," Stolese said. "Yet, I had cut back our selection of cards and paper products because of the fact that Ink. Ink. was located right around the corner and I had wanted to be sensitive about competing with another Shelburne merchant.

"When we decided to merge, I was particularly excited about the opportunity to expand our contact with brides in terms of wedding and shower invitations-because we also offer wedding registrations at Arabesque-as well as a lot of business in baby gifts, which seemed to be a natural fit with baby announcements and shower invitations. Any occasion that warrants a gift, also needs a card to go along with it.”

It is a unique situation when two local, like-companies can join together to create a more complete store with a wider variety of products and services for the customer. "I am very excited about the opportunity to expand the business right here in Shelburne," Stolese concluded.

"This is such a great community with lots of locally owned businesses with fantastic owners. Every week, customers tell us how happy they are to have such great shopping options right here in town, without always having to drive to Burlington or Williston. Shelburne has a great hometown, New England feel and fantastic opportunities for tourists a s well."
