CHESTER, VT - Chester recently welcomed another exciting, new art gallery to its growing art mecca, as local artist Bryce LeVan Cushing launches a modern art space called BLCARTGRP Gallery, located at 297 Main Street in the Moondog Café Building.

"We worked around the clock to open on Sunday," Bryce LeVan Cushing said in a recent interview. "This was a kid-friendly opening by request, however, upcoming events at the gallery will not be for the kids."

The gallery-opening show, which runs through March 15, is titled Contempo-Take-O and features the Polaroid transfer prints of Rik (Wave) Kapler of Provincetown, MA., as well as the mixed-media sculptures of owner and curator Bryce LeVan Cushing. Kapler's work is transparent, yet bold and striking simultaneously, offering hand-manipulated images that have worked through the Polaroid transfer process, culminating with prints that are created with archival pigment ink.

Cushing has worked in the arts across the United States and Europe over the last 20 years as a sculptor, performance artist, garden designer, curator and chef. His new gallery will feature bold, cutting-edge work from artists around the country and the world, while offering art experiences unlike any other in Vermont.

Cushing also plans to bring in the "far left, edgy grit" of several New York City performers including Needles Jones and Moonfire Tower. In fact, at the Contempo-Take-O opening both Jones and the guitarist Tower debuted a new batch of songs while opening for the locl trio The Break Maids, who offer up their own set of "rural carnival punk."

"I want to thank all the folks who helped make the dream of having my own gallery a reality, including Jackie from MoonDog Café, Adam Howard from the Grafton Forge and Lynell Wilcha from Wilcha Design."

The BLCARTGRP Gallery is located at the rear of the MoonDog Café at 297 Main Street in Chester. The gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as by appointment. For more information visit www.brycelevancushing.com.
