New Blog: catching up

Blog entry number two... finally. I wanted to touch base again long before this, but sometimes there is just not enough time in the day.
Being new to all this "web site creation" stuff, I guess I should have waited just a little bit longer to initially launch the site, because I still needed to have a "posting class" with my web master, (Thanks Jon!!) to be able to post articles and images to the site on my own. Live and learn I guess...but now I have a little better idea about what I am doing...so now I can really get the ball rolling.
From here, not only will I be posting new articles that I am currently working on for both The Message and my freelance projects, but will also be going back through my archives to post articles from the past as well.
A couple new articles I just posted include a sports–related cover story I wrote for The Message about a (yes, the home of Homer Simpson) Springfield, VT–high school senior, who was able to conquer cancer, then return to the soccer field to play for his school team. This young man is truly a tough and inspirational individual! I would also like to thank Paul, co-editor and co-worker at The Message, for taking the photos when I was in a pinch for time.
I also just posted one of my "10 Questions For...." interviews with keyboard wizard and electroincs pioneer Roger Powell. Roger was a member of Todd Rundgren's Utopia band in the 70's and 80's, and also a protege' of Robert Moog...creator of the Moog synthesizer. Roger Powell is a genius and it was one of my all-time favorite "10 Questions" pieces to put together. This guy is one smart dude!!!
Let's see...on a personal note, my son Nate's (he's in 6th grade) basketball season just started and being an assistant coach on the team, I will be taking on the task of twice a week, trying to keep a dozen 12-year-olds from running into each other on the court!
We had an opening season doubleheader on Saturday and Nate grabbed a total of 17 rebounds in the two games! Of course he's a bruiser in the paint, which means we're still working on getting his jumper to fall...He's the Charles Barkley of Bellows Falls Middle School basketball!! Keep getting those rebounds Nate!
Okay...I guess that's it for now.... I will be posting new (and old) stories on a weekly basis from here on in, so please come back and visit often...and don't be afraid to contact me with any comments, suggestions, ect...good or bad.
Thanks for stopping by - Joe @ JEM
